About Me
Hi! My name is Julia, and I’m the one behind everything you see here – from sewing patterns and courses to handmade accessories stitched with love.
Sewing has been a part of my life since 2015, when I sat at a machine for the very first time, just wanting to create something original and truly mine.
What began as a small curiosity quickly grew into a passion. To nurture it, I went on to study Fashion Design, and after graduating, I knew that sewing wasn’t just a hobby for me – it was the path I wanted to follow and share with others.
How GENOW Began
The idea for GENOW was born out of that passion. In 2019, I started building what is now GenowPatterns – a space dedicated to learning how to sew. Here, you’ll find online materials like sewing patterns, online courses, and video tutorials designed to make sewing approachable and inspiring.
Soon after, GenowStudio came to life – a place for physical products handcrafted by me. It was created because so many of you asked about the items I made, and I wanted to share them with you. Every piece that leaves my studio is made with care, attention to detail, and a genuine love for sewing.
The Meaning Behind the Name
Why GENOW? The name comes from my grandmother’s old Polish name, Genowefa. I was born at a time when sewing machines were still common in many Polish homes. In the 90s, when clothing choices were limited, our mothers and grandmothers often sewed garments for themselves and for us. Sewing was part of everyday life – practical, creative, and full of heart. GENOW is my way of honoring that tradition and giving it a new life.
